An Evening to Remember!

I have wondered for months how to raise a compassionate, soft-hearted, loving little man. I kept thinking what was it that my parents did to make me so soft-hearted, compassionate.
Well, last night, I saw a precious glimpse of such a little boy.
We were having a little 'mommy and me' time: a dimly lit living room, the tv's soft glow, and whispers of love to one another. I looked up on the tv and there was a show about OperationSmile. It's something that I had 'heard' before, but never really watched. I became more interested...and so did Tanner. I noticed that they were in Vietnam. As we watched the show, my eyes filled with tears. Tanner looked at the precious little babies and then looked at me and said, "Momma, baby hurt! baby hurt, Momma!" That's when he noticed me crying. He's seen me tear up a few times, but hardly ever a full-on CRY! He looked at me, smiled, and said in the most precious voice I've ever heard, "Momma, don't cry. It's ok, Momma, wipe your tears." At that point, he grabbed a cloth diaper that I keep around to wipe his always-snotty nose and said, Tanner wipe momma's tears, it's ok, momma..."
Needless to say that my tears of sorrow turned into tears of complete and utter love. That precious baby made me speechless. All I could do was just hug and kiss him (he thought I was going to kiss him to death, I think!)
All this to say, All I can do is my best to SHOW Tanner love and compassion...trust God to do the rest!
