Waking up in Da Lat

I awoke this morning, at what I thought was 7:00am. I had to scramble to find a source to tell me the time. (again, no alarm clock!) Ummm, no, it's not 7:00am, it's 5:45am. What the heck is going on here?
Anyway, I looked out the window, to a small team of scooters whirling up the hill.
Our hotel, the Novitel Dalat was built in the 1930's. The whole town sits in the "swiss/french, back in time, high on a hill" kind of era. To look out our window (by the way, there's no a/c at this hotel...but you really don't need it at night--it gets really cold here..i about froze!)it looks like a small little town you'd see surrounded by water or something. It's kinda hard to explain, but it's completely quaint!

This is our view from our balcony!
Across the street, the hotel utilizes a restaurant, " Le Cafe de la Poste" So yummy! you can pick from Vietnamese food, French food, and 'Western' food. All the ladies are wearing these cute 1950's sort of dresses with frilly white aprons around there waste. It was weird, because last night when we looked around, everyone was either from England, Germany, America, or France! A melting pot of voices!
I'm in love with this small little town!
Just think, as I'm posting this, Tanner is a mere couple of miles away from me....NOT THOUSANDS!!!

So glad you are loving the city. I am amazed you were able to sleep until 5:45am - I would have guessed you would be up ALL night. Well, it's after 7am now so can't wait to see more pictures of Tanner - and you, of course! Enjoy!

What a trip for you so far! If you get a chance - have some ice cream at one of those little ice cream places. For some reason, I LOVE the ice cream from there, not sure if it's because they put condensed milk into or what, plus some crushed peanuts, but I just can never get that out of my head!

If you have time to just sport yourself around town at all, up the hill where the main marketplace is... there's this place called XQ - everything there is hand embroidered art, it's the main headquarters, but you'll also find it in the main cities. Beautiful stuff and just amazing to tour! If you like things like that... enjoy your day and seeing Tanner again!!! Do you get him today too?? :)
