Have you ever been reminded of just how precious family is?
I just got home from Jonesboro. I spent the night in the hospital with my precious 'Memaw.' She had a bad couple of days and we were all taking turns staying with her, keeping her comfy, and just spending precious time with her.
I know I probably haven't told her enough in my life, but my Memaw is the most tender-hearted, stubborn (I wonder where I get my stubborness from?) independent woman ever!!
As I sat there next to her, watching her sleep and holding her soft hands, I thought back to being a little girl...going to Memaw's house! Oh, I loved that! ALWAYS, upon walking in her house, I'd smell the sweet scent of some fantastic dessert or lunch being prepared in her kitchen! I loved Christmas at her house (ummm, she did away with the christmas tree loooong ago, but decorated a lamp instead--complete with lights and Christmas balls all over the lamp!!( hahaha!!) just for me and my brother!! Oh, how I wish I had a picture!!)I always looked forward to her chocolate peanut butter fudge! Yuuuummmm!!!!
Just today, as I was putting some lip gloss on her dry lips and said to her, "Pucker up, Memaw!" she smiled and laughed at me, cuz I just looked at her....That little second in time brought back memories of watching her get ready for church! I loved watching her get ready! the fixing of her hair...the sweet smell of perfume...watching her 'pucker up' to put her lipstick on!! Then we'd head out and walk to church! She always made me feel so special!! ALWAYS!!
I was able to show her pictures of Tanner! We were talking about how beautiful he is! (He's her FIRST Great Grandson!!) I dorkily asked her, "Memaw, are you gonna hold him, when he gets home?" She quickly answered me, Uh, No Kelly, I'm going to throw him in the floor!! ... Of course I'm going to hold him, and kiss and hug him too!!" I'm glad to see that all that's happened over the past week hasn't dampened her sense of humor!! I do love her so!

Kelly,
What sweet memories! Tanner will love your Memaw! It is such a thrill for me to see Ben climb into my grandmothers lap and give her a big hug. I can't wait to hear that Tanner has crawled into Memaw's lap.
So happy for you! Tricia
Grandparents are such a blessing! I hope your Memaw is feeling much better soon, Kelly!
